Grace’s mission committee started when Peter Quello was our Pastor and late in his tenure we had already raised more than a million dollars for various missions. I know he was proud of that. Our committe has been comprised of 4-5 people who take turns giving mission minutes throughout the year on the second Sunday of the month. When we had a larger congregation in years past and more young families attended, we also had a youth representative on our council as well. Some of our mission causes stay the same each year such as World Hunger, Lutheran World Relief, Crossways Camping Ministries, Funds for Leaders in Mission, Disaster Relief, and Lutheran Social Services. Other more recent causes have been Good Gifts, Compassion Child, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Sometimes we do a one time mission like the Ukraine Crisis or supporting the Boys and Girls Club during the pandemic. Grace also supports the local Food Pantry as well. Our current mission council members are Craig Chovanec, Carrie McCarthy, Jeff Tarras, and Anita Lind. When you include the Food Pantry, we raised nearly $21,000 last year. Our congregation has been very generous and we appreciate the support.
